Épicerie Arménie: a taste of home in Montpellier

A small shop with a wide choice from the CIS and Eastern Europe. Confirmed by us from the owner’s account and from our own visits:

The spice choice is wider than in an ordinary French supermarket; if you don’t know what to take, the people at the counter will help. We have not collected prices yet: ask by phone.

Getting there

The address is 5 rue Anatole France, Montpellier.

The shop is straight behind the Observatoire tram stop (lines 3 and 4). The second stop, Gambetta (lines 3 and 5), is close by, so you can come from different sides of the city.

There are pedestrian streets, cafés and shops around, so you can drop in on your way rather than make a special trip at the weekend. By car the centre is harder: the streets are narrow and parking is paid.

The shop is open every day 10:00-22:00, Sundays included; hours and phone checked on 6 October 2026. On a Sunday evening almost everything in central Montpellier is closed, but here you can pick up supper: you stayed late at work, came back from the sea, or remembered at the last moment that guests are coming tomorrow.

Why we go there

We go to this shop ourselves: for dried fish, sukhariki, tvorog and kefir, pelmeni and khinkali, pryaniki for tea and spices for plov. It is good that a shop like this stands in the centre of Montpellier and not on the outskirts where you have to plan a trip. The people at the counter will advise and help you choose, and you can feel it: it is pleasant to walk in even for a single pack of pelmeni.

Yes. The shop works 7/7, with no closing day, 10:00-22:00 (hours checked on 6 October 2026). That is rare for central Montpellier, where almost everything is closed on a Sunday evening, but you can walk in here.
