One musician, a guitar, a voice, and songs most of the room will know from the first chords. On Friday 23 October Mikhail Grigorov plays the bar La Chistera in central Montpellier: a first half of hard-driving instrumental rock with virtuoso guitar, then an acoustic half of rock hits the whole room sings along to, from “Nothing Else Matters” to Kino's “Gruppa krovi”. Entry €10, and not many seats.
In short: what’s on 23 October
On Friday 23 October 2026, from 19:00 to 22:00, the bar La Chistera in the centre of Montpellier hosts a solo concert by Mikhail Grigorov, a guitarist and singer many people in the community know from the chat and from the stage. On stage: one musician, a guitar and a voice. Entry is €10, seats are limited, and you book in the community chat.
The announcement puts it better than we could: “It’s going to be loud, heartfelt and all about the guitar.”

The programme: two halves
Instrumental drive. The first half is for people who love the guitar as an instrument rather than as accompaniment: music by nobody.one and Racer X, demanding technique, big solos, “proper guitar rock”. This is the part of the evening worth sitting close to the stage for, so you can watch his hands.
Rock hits and acoustic. The second half is the songs plenty of people will recognise from the first chords and can sing with the musician:
- Metallica, “Nothing Else Matters”;
- System of a Down, “Lonely Day”;
- Zhuki, “Batareyka” (Battery);
- Lumen, “Tri puti” (Three Roads);
- Viktor Tsoi and Kino: “Gruppa krovi” (Blood Type), “Spokoynaya noch” (Quiet Night), “Kogda tvoya devushka bolna” (When Your Girl Is Ill);
- and other well-known rock numbers.
From technical electric guitar and a big instrumental sound to voice, acoustic and the songs “the whole room wants to sing”. People, live music and good rock: that’s how the organisers summed up the reason to come.
Where it is: La Chistera, Saint-Roch district
La Chistera is a pub and tapas bar at 2 bis rue d’Obilion, 34000 Montpellier, in the Saint-Roch district, a couple of minutes’ walk from Montpellier Saint-Roch station; the landmark is the Babote tower, one of the two surviving towers of the medieval wall. The map pin opens from the booking block at the top of this page.
The tram is the easiest way in: every line meets at the station, then it’s two minutes on foot. Don’t drive into the centre on a Friday evening; the car parks by the Comédie are full by dinner time. If you’re coming from Toulouse or Nîmes, the train drops you right at Saint-Roch.
The bar already knows the community. On 19 September it hosted the Mafia and karaoke, and back then La Chistera confirmed a happy hour for our guests. The bar also runs karaoke nights of its own on Tuesdays, and those are the venue’s programme; the concert on 23 October is our meetup.
Price, booking and why not to wait
- €10 entry.
- Seats are limited: this is a small bar, not a hall.
- Book ahead in the community chat, under the announcement.
The community doesn’t sell tickets and doesn’t run a till. How the entry fee is taken will be explained when you book, and whatever you order at the bar is settled with the venue.
Who it’s for
For anyone who listened to rock in the 2000s and still knows “Gruppa krovi” by heart, obviously. But also for anyone who just wants live sound: the instrumental half asks you to know not a single word, and in the second half the room carries the choruses. It’s a small bar, the musician is two metres from the first table, and that’s the whole point of the format. Not a stadium, an evening among your own.
If you’re new to Montpellier and don’t know anyone yet, come on your own. A fair share of the people at our bar meetups arrive exactly that way, and a shared chorus introduces people no worse than Mafia does.
What’s next
A week after the concert the community heads to Toulouse: from 30 October to 1 November it’s the Slavic Weekend, with a banya, shashlik, Anti-Halloween, crayfish and Mafia. And before the concert, on 11 October, there’s a picnic on the beach at Carnon to close the beach season. Every announcement is in the community chat; the full chronicle of events is on the site.
About the community
Vibe Sud France is the Russian-speaking community of Montpellier and the whole South of France, more than six hundred people in a Telegram chat. It’s free and run by volunteers: the events are dreamed up and hosted by the members themselves, and the concerts and games by friends of the community. Being in the chat costs nothing; for events you pay only the real cost, or the entry fee the venue sets.
